STS Construction Board 6mm, 9mm & 12mm
STS Construction Board 6mm, 9mm & 12mm
Suitable for internal and external use. Impervious to moisture and A1 Fire Rated. The STS Construction Boards have numerous applications including over boarding timber floors prior to tiling as well as cavity closure, eaves boards, under canopies, or as a ceiling board where fire rating is required. The A1 fire resistant board means that your structure will be safer in the event of a fire outbreak.

- Internal Ceiling Board (suitable to apply plaster)
- Loft Conversions
- Garages
- Car Ports
- Mezzanines
- Student Accommodation/Multi Occupancy (MO) Buildings
- Balconies & Walkways
- Grain Store (Volatile Storage Areas)
- Fire Break Above Suspended Ceilings
- Underground Carpark/Storage
Features:
- Euro Class A1 Fire Rating (BS EN 12467)
- Impact Resistant
- High Density
- Weatherproof & Water Resistant
- External Heavy-Duty
- Maintains Minimum Board Movement
- Plaster Ready (Prime with SBR)
Standard Board Sizes:
- 2400mmx1200mm (6mm*, 9mm & 12mm)
- 1200mmx800mm (9mm & 12mm)
- 1200mmx600mm (6mm*)
*Whilst all our boards are suitable for use on ceilings, for added rigidity and strength, we would recommend 9mm or 12mm where possible.
Suitable For:
- Timber Frame
- Lightweight Steel Frame
- Offsite/Modular Build
- All Internal
Cutting Guide:
Due to the density of the boards, we recommend using a STS PCD Blade (poly crystalline diamond) which are designed for use on fibre cement. They have 5 or 6 diamond tipped teeth which reduce dust and keep the blade cool resulting in it lasting much longer and getting a clean cut finish.
Handling Tip for Ceilings:
Best practice for offering these boards into position for ceilings would be the use of an electric or manual panel lifter. This makes it much easier to adjust the position and hold in place while fixing and can be purchased or hired from most tool hire outlets.

Yes, STS 12mm Construction Boards have far superior properties in comparison with plasterboard such as fire resistance, impact resistance, strength, breathability, durability to damp and excellent thermal mass properties.
Yes. Before applying plaster, STS 12mm Construction Boards require priming with SBR Primer.
For standard internal use onto timber or metal stud work, use STS 38mm torx screws to fix 12mm boards, 400mm centres. For external, fire and render applications, fixing methods vary by application. Please call our technical support line for best practice.
We recommend either using our Fibre Cement Scoring Tool or a PCD cutting blade which fits into a hand held circular saw. Dust extraction is recommended for this.
Portland Cement: binds the ingredients and is made with limestone, clay and iron. Cellulose Fibres: treated, organic fibres which act as a filler. Sand: highly durable and creates all weather performance. Water: dissolves the wood pulp; activates and hardens the cement. STS Construction Boards have no need of fibreglass mesh for strengthening, which of course is almost impossible to recycle and very irritable when cutting.
