WHY NOT USE FIBRE CEMENT FOR...

Fibre Cement is a truly seminal innovation.

Invented by the Austrian Industrialist, Ludwig Hatschek (1856-1914), in the late 19th Century, it has proved to be a remarkable creation!

Its ingredients are simple, and yet it possesses extraordinary properties.

It is weatherproof, fire-resistant, extremely durable, very low maintenance, termite and rodent-proof, fully recyclable, impervious to moisture, resistant to mould, and very VERY versatile!

Fibre Cement BOARD is the most common manifestation of this wonder product.

This commodity is not to be confused with Cement Particle Board, which, due to its high timber content is NOT A1 Fire Rating/Non-Combustible.

FCB (as we shall call it) is perfect for a whole host of applications in the sphere of Construction and Renovation.

A list of the more popular uses includes:

  • External Render Carrier Board- perfect with Timber Frame buildings

  • Tile Backing for walls and floors-including in Wetroom areas.

  • Kitchen Splashbacks

  • Stove Backer Boards

  • Partitions-ideal to meet Fire Regulations

  • On underfloor Heating-excellent thermal mass for even heat dissipation

  • Soundproofing

  • Oil Tank Surrounds

  • Direct to Joist Floorboards-Non-Squeak!!

  • Tile Backing for swimming pools

  • Balconies

  • Mezzanine Floors

  • Soffit Boards

  • Ceilings

The list goes on and on, and there are more uses being discovered all the time.

Little wonder then that Architects, Building Contractors, DIYers and Tilers et al. absolutely love working with this most multifunctional of products!

And of course, when you apply to Render to the boards there is the opportunity to transform them into something quite different looking.

Wooden Planks, as an example.

They can be painted and printed too.

So, in summary, FCB is one of the multi-talented stars of the Construction Industry, and here at NoMorePly® we have the biggest and best range available on the market!

While we were on this subject, we decided to have a look at what else Fibre Cement can be used for.

We found some intriguing ideas!

Planters-think urban chic for indoor and outdoor.

Boards can also be used to make these.

Or what about Garden Furniture?

There is some pretty cool stuff available!

Check out the design below, made out of 16mm Fibre Cement!!

Fashioned by Slovene architect Tina Rugeli http://www.tinarugelj.com/ this stuff ROCKS (although not literally).

This one-piece Outdoor Table and Bench is absolutely brilliant.

And we just LOVE this:

A Fibre Cement Palace for your Pooch made with 10mm thick material.

Whooooof-it really takes the biscuit!!!

And that’s not all………..

What about this?

Again, 10mm Fibre Cement was utilized to make this classic retro garden sink.

According to DZine Trip, http://dzinetrip.com/about/ the online design publication founded by Murtaza Baker:

Rugelj’s collection has been described as “chic concrete”, “concrete with the soul of Mediterranean lightness”, “elegant and poetic fibre-cement collection”, “optimistic and fresh approach in design”, “a friendly concrete story”.

We’d tend to agree!

And because Fibre Cement is waterproof, it is the perfect material to use in the Manufacture of Garden Furniture.

So, who’d have thought it?

When our friend Ludwig hit upon the idea of this revolutionary building material, we suspect he had no conception of how truly utilitarian it would prove to be.

Fibre Cement surely is one of the most innovatory products ever developed from what most people would consider a pretty basic and mundane powder!

Let the good old FT have the last word:

But therein lies the allure of fibre reinforcement, which allows concrete to take precise patterns and forms, transforming a cold building material into a thin, elegant structure with incredible strength.

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!
