Also, Gypsum doesn’t cope too well with water in other ways! Plasterboard is notorious for going all soggy when exposed to a bit of the good old British weather. It’s porosity is one of the reasons you don’t want to be using it much in a bathroom or shower area.
Plus, Gypsum board is an energy intensive product to manufacture. This means the process consumes a lot of non-renewable primary energy!
So, suffice to say, we just wanted to drive the above point home. Not leave any questions “hanging in the air”, as they say. Our NoMorePly boards® are Gypsum free-and a good thing too!
Additionally, our boards are:
CHLORIDE FREE
Now, Chlorides feature in a list of Deleterious Materials in Construction. (I admit I had to look up Deleterious, and it's meanings include-in THIS context-dangerous to health, causes of failure in building's and environmentally damaging!)
Specifically, Calcium Chloride & Sodium Chloride-Salt to you and I, (or NaCI to those of a chemical background)
Nothing wrong with a pinch of salt, you might be thinking. Well, yes and no. Fine to add flavour to your Fish & Chips, but not so good in a Construction Board.
Soluble salts are a key contributor to damage in a variety of materials. This includes stone, ceramics and metal.
In particular, salt contamination can cause porous materials to weaken, and metal to rapidly corrode.
Over time this will inevitably result in actual physical damage to buildings.
So, we say, our boards are tasty enough and no salt (or Chloride) in the mix, thanks very much!
To sum up, NoMorePly® boards are manufactured using Sand, Cement, Cellulous Fibres and Water. THAT’s IT!
There are simply no nasties involved with our boards.
We always recommend you wear a mask, but rest assured you can cut them without anything "a bit iffy” being released in to the atmosphere.
You can fit them with absolute confidence, knowing they will be perfect for the job in hand and are backed by our LIFETIME GURANTEE
They are micro-porous. (they can “breathe”). They are A1 Fire Rated-Non Combustible. They are Termite Resistant. They can be left exposed to the elements whilst waiting to be utilised on site. They are so easy to fit and lay. They are water resistant. Some of them are even structural and can be laid straight on to joists! They are tile and render ready. They have an excellent thermal mass, ideal for underfloor heating…..I could go on and on……
But I’m wandering from my point a bit, which was to give you a heads up on their Free-From attributes.
Probably best to sum up and say they are FREE-FROM ANY HASSLE!
Enjoy working with them. You’ve every reason to!
